testosterone gone bad: SC S2000 vs older E320
The situation:
stopped at light, 2 lane road that narrows down to one lane about 1/4 mile past the light; road ahead is clear.
The E320 (late 90's model, not sure, just know it wasn't a newer one) was already at the light when I rolled up and stopped. I had stopped slightly ahead of the E320 and within seconds the guy inches up a little - somehow, this was enough to make me think this guy was actually going to go for it.
Sure enough, light turns green and this guy hits it! Because of my suspicion, I had already decided to start off with a "medium" launch - no screaming clutch drop, but enough rpms to get me off the line quickly without bogging.
The E320 got off the line quicker than I did, so I was slightly behind for the first second or two. As soon as I hit vtec in first gear, the race was over
I immediately started pulling away and didn't back off until I hit 100mph. By that time, the E320 was 10-15 car lengths behind, so I don't know if he backed off or if he was that much slower.
Anyway, the real kicker is this: like I said the road turns to one lane each direction and right after it narrowed there was traffic, so the E320 catches up. We go a little ways with the E320 right behind me and come up on one of those areas where they have added pavement on the right side (so you can go around cars waiting to turn left). As soon as we get to this area, the E320 punches it and passes me and the car in front of me on the right
I don't know what up with the guy driving the E320, but he sure was ticked off he got his ass handed to him by a honda.
