S2000 vs. Squirrel....
i got my 01 S2000 for my 18th birthday =X
my parents paid for half of it and right now i work and pay for the monthly car note and insurance. i know if i would have gotten this car 2 years earlier when i first started driving, that car wouldn't be here today. as mature as i saw myself back then, i'd probably still end up doing something stupid.

I wonder if the squirrel story even occurred, or was it just a figment of the imagination of a 16 year old?
I wonder.
I got my s2k when I was 17, and it's still intact minus a few stolen items that has been replaced. I even pampered it and made sure the break-in period was followed through accordingly. I don't believe that teenagers are stereotypically bad drivers, because I've witnessed every demographic group driving wrecklessly on the road.
when i was 16-20 i did tons of stupid stuff driving, its called growing up live and learn so on and so forth, then again anyone who is street racing is kinda hypocritical for calling another driver reckless and then go on and post their exp's steet racing.
Look never ever turn hard at speed unless your are trying to avoid something bigger than medium sized dog, even then unless you are sure of your "outs" I would go with the break hard and hope method. That Geico commercial with the squirrels is just stupid. I don't care if I am riding a motorcycle, I will not turn hard to miss a squirrel and I have the squirrel fur in my under-carriage to prove it.
Hollywood has a real bug for showing perfectly reasonable driving situations that end up really bad with no blame for the driver. I mean if you run off the road to miss a squirrel, you are a complete idiot. That Geico commercial makes it appear that accidents can happen to a driver and they are not really at fault. If a deer comes out the woods, ok, most the time you just have to get lucky, but not a damn squirrel.
semi-truck drivers are taught to stay in the lane no matter what pulls out in front of them. Granted loaded they cannot real swerve much without tipping over or losing control and killing who knows who. Much better to kill the dumb asses that pulled into your lane than some one else.
