I don't know if you are talking to me, but all I know is I won. Can I explain it, nope. Do I understand what circumstances need to be true for me to win? nope. Was my car in front of his when all was said and done (minus the fly-by), yup.

One thing that is not being taken into account is the variation within the F-body line. I use to own a 93 Formula (LT1 6-speed with the performance package). NO ONE here is going to be able to convince me that my S2000 is faster in a straight line than that car was at ANY speed. Now, if you start to think about the weight difference between the Formula and the fugly-boddy-cladding-and-power-seat-equipped Trans/Am, there's going to be a little difference. Ditto if the T/A didn't have the performance package and the 3.23 v. 2.73 rear end. Automatic-equipped? Add still more time. Of course, the thing that adds the most time to F-bodies is a bad launch or a surface with little adhesion (wheel spin).

What does all this mean? On a grippy surface, a well-driven 6-speed LT1 Formula or Z28 with the performance axle ratio WILL beat a stock S2000 no matter how well the S2000 is driven. On the other hand, I believe a well-driven S2000 would beat a stock automatic standard-axle-ratio-equipped Trans/Am.

Reaction time counts at the track, so I'll believe you can win even against an LS1.

I'm glad you have a witness for your street race. Only because he got his tires spinning before you revved up for a clutch drop. That alone normally means you lose. But with a witness all I can say is that TA driver should stick to picking on Yugos. How embarassing.
