Just want to see if the results were average. My car feels slower lately.

97ish Mustang GT with at least an exhaust
vs
02 S2000 - 18" wheels, HKS exhaust, top up
The light turned green and we both rolled off. At 10 mph, we both mashed, but he my bumper was to his door. It took forever to get to VTEC in 1st and at I believe until the end of 3rd, there was 1/2 car between our bumpers.
I would have kicked the clutch in 1st, but I need to change the diff fluids and didn't want to risk it.
18 is teh suck for speed.

Totally random..

My buddy went out to the drag strip in his stock '06 S2000 two nights ago. I tagged along to get some video, and I just missed being at the track since I don't get out there much anymore. Anyway, my friend runs his car 3 times with a best run of 14.1. After were standing in the tech line for a while waiting to run again. He asks me if I'd drive his car one time, just to see what the results would be. (Man was I having a blast with this) Of course I said hell yeah. Now I've driven his car before, and pulled a couple of gears, but I've never launched an AP2 personally, and for sure never went balls to the wall in one since owning my AP1. Anyway, I guess it was like riding a bike. I launched around 5500, and managed a 2.1 60ft (ehh) and ran a 13.8 on my very first try, but only managed to trap @ 97MPH. I was wondering how is this basically possible? Anytime I've ever ran my S, I trapped over 100mph, and if I didn't, there was no way I was getting into the 13's (In my car anyway). The run was totally clean, other then I bet I could get a better 60ft with a couple more runs. Felt awesome banging out gears in an S again.

Anyways, I was just curious if anyone had any opinions on this situation. 13.8@97 mph?!?

if you know what your doing with that car, it definitely runs like a dream... granted a lot of people dont know how to take care of their cars, for the people who has the money, its definitely one of the best cars ive owned..

Yeah... sorry to say 18's are the worst thing you can do for a s2000, you will really notice if your N/A with stock gearing, but they are a hindrance no matter what your mod list is. If you want to go fast stick with the 16's. If you want show but no go, do what ever you want

Its real easy to lose a few miles per hour by letting off slightly early? Thats my guess...its the only way I can think of going on your 60' and finish time. Or maybe you shifted into 5th right before the line?

S2000Junky & VJDM: Agreed. IMO 17"s look a bit too small on the S. 18"s are just right. Just another excuse to go turbo

I'm also guessing that since we both started in low RPM, he had the upper hand with the extra torque he had over me.

You will win if you can drive. Those a4's are pigs at 4000pounds. I beat one from a dig to 80 and had him by 4 cars and gaining, but he gave up before any more emberasment. I was stock at the time and I am pretty sure that was the year I raced as well. Talk some smack and get a good tire screeching launch!

I think that year is a 14.5 in the quarter mile car. If your good, you can pull a high 13 in a stock S! And a low 13 in a good bolt on tuned one like me
