your gears will help you more from lower speeds so your geard advantage will be greater in 1st and 2nd more then other gears IMO

let us know how things go when you get them installed

Actually with 4.77's you see a huge difference 1st thru the end of 3rd gear. 4th and 5th gear with 4.77's seem 'stockish'.

They have no top end either with that Ko3, so it will probably balance out with the gears.

In all honestly though, you probably should at the least be even with him. I mean he doesn't even have an aftermarket fuel pump yet.

In my experiences (about 6 of my good friends that I frequently ride out with have tuned GTI MKV's) basic stage 2 GTI's are about on par with well driven stock S2K's. Stage 2 usually gets them to trap from 100-102mph. And then the stage 2 + (fuel pump) gives them another MPH or 2 with good drivers. But the whole FWD and no LSD hurts their E.T's.

Also if it's a 6 speed or DSG maters. The DSG's tend to weigh a little more, and dyno a little less because they lose a bit more power through the tranny. So the 6 speeds usually trap a bit higher with good drivers.


This is their fastest stock turbo in the country list if it helps.

Also, most will have a hard time getting out of the 14's. Remember these are the best times in the country.

I was at Fixx fest, and euro wars this year where there were hundreds of GTI MKV's there running for time. I saw with my own eyes from the whole day only 4 guys in GTI's managed to break into the 13's. Now I sure all of them weren't stage 2's, but I think you see where I'm going with this.

And no low rpm rolls! I know you know this, but their cars make awesome power down low. So try and be a little higher into VTEC when you start the run then usual. Like if you usually start right at 6k, try and get an extra 500 or 1,000 rpms deeper into your powerband. You feel me? Their initial surge is strong. If you can match that in the beginning, you'll shortly be pulling. Their turbo's are about the size of a baseball. They can't hold as much boost once they get into higher rpm, and this really gets exposed in the higher gears.
