yup. their boost limited in the first two gears, so youll run away from him. at a 60 or so roll should be a drivers race, with the edge going to the s2k. s2k pulls decent up top for a 2.0 NA 4banger.
Just FYI - The MS3 is only boost limited in 1st and 2nd if you don't know that all you have to do is hold in the Traction Controll button when starting the car to turn off this feature. You get the full 15psi in 1st and 2nd if you do.

But I will agree, your only chance is to take him from a dig. But if he has the motor mount, then he will have very little wheel hop and torque stear. Also, with his mods he should be pushing close to 250-280 WHP.

Who would win from a dig or roll, S2000 or MY99 - MY04 Mustang GT?

Stock Ap1 would be a drivers race. Ap2 would have a better chance at slowly walking one. (Dig or a roll) Mine will walk all three

My friend is looking at RX-8's. I know they are a good bit slower then our cars iv heard, but why? the HP difference is not much...is it heavy? or poor gearing or something? whats the deal??

And hows an RX-8 compare in handling, I know they are great but are the as good/better than the s2k at all?

According to Motortrend:....At the dragstrip, the '99 GT's performance numbers, though great for a Mustang, are still not tops in this muscular crowd. Yet, 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and a 14.0-second/100.2-mph quarter-mile run is as good or better than any stock Mustang we've ever tested, Cobra or not.

4.6-liter SOHC V-8
260 horsepower @ 5250 rpm
302 pound/feet @ 4000 rpm
56.5 horsepower/liter

I'm not an RX8 expert but from what I have gathered its a little bit of all of your points which equates as a whole, to a lesser performing car. This goes for handling as well.

Since we are on the subject, i'm not sure what the selling points are for this car since the rotory isn't as realiable as a conventional motor either, especialy a Honda. I don't want to get on an RX8 bash here but this car makse little sense to me. The RX7 had more purpose.

A while ago I started a thread about racing a friend of a friends '97 mustang cobra... We went from a dig 2 times and I ended up pulling on him. His car looked to be in great shape too. You know sometimes you never know with 10+ year old mustangs. Anyways heres the link..

A good driver is about it for an s2000, when I was stock I ran even with allot of these on hwy pulls. A few bolt ons wouldn't hurt either but they aren't anything to fret over. Its pretty much a drivers race with one of these. Sounds like he feels pretty good about his mustang. I love messing with these guys for that reason because most of them have bigger heads then brains. Remember the vast majority of muscle cars in the 60's had on average 300hp or more and ran between 13-14 sec quarter miles. This Cobra weighing about the same at over 3500-3800pounds is heavy and putting out very similar numbers. (Not saying much for a 30 year old newer mustang) Stock s2000 though not even meant to be a drag car averages 14 sec and as low as 13.8 with a good driver. We walk Mustang GT's. easily. Cobras are more of an even race. Tell your friend he's been racing bad drivers and to quite kidding himself
