I know how fast the z06 is. My friend has a modified Z06, and i drove it once. Ride in it all the time.

Everything but the turbo is not slightly modded (as i said b4 INCREASED BOOST)
you can run 12's without an upgraded turbo.

And I could keep arguing, but it seems nothign will go threw some skulls here no matter what info they see. They see the info they want, the believe what they want, and leave no room for anything else. There are some who are reasonable, but oh well.

Look at it this way... Spend lets see 24k for a wrx, add about $5k worth of mods, and you got a car that can keep up with best of them.. And the price of the WRX will still be lower than that of a Z06 etc etc..

oh and for you guys that say your s2k feels so much faster, well im not saying that it isn't fast, cause i know it is... but, whenever you are in a smaller vehicle, everything always feels faster. Go sit in one of those little gocarts that you race around the track, they feel fast as hell, but are you actually going that fast? No. Kind of like an illusion, size of the car makes the feeling of fast or slow.

It's just that some posts in this thread seem to imply that an "everything but turbo" WRX is Z06 category in the 1/4, which
is obviously not true. In this case this particular WRX beat that particular Z06, but that Z06 wasn't driven anywhere near its potential.

 

Yeah, but I'd still rather have that Z06, even if it's slower.

The money argument NEVER works.

Spend about 2K on a Fox body Mustang, and about 5K in mods, and you get a car that will beat almost anything else on the street, including that WRX and Z06, for
tens of thousands of dollars less.

So what? You'd still be driving an old Mustang.

 

PRECISELY. Remember a while ago, the guy who had a hopped up Minivan? It could do the 1/4 in the 12's. Does anyone actually think the ZO6 owner really cares if he got beat by a Minivan or a WRX in the 1/4? At the end of the day, the ZO6 owner still goes home in his ZO6. The other guy goes home in a boxy, Japanese 4-door econobox or a Minivan. It just simply doesn't matter.

 

The cheaper argument doesn't work, sorry.
You could get a barstool and strap a civic SI engine in it and smoke everything. It's cheaper, it's faster, but it still sucks.

I'm not saying the WRX sucks, just it's not as good as the Z06. Even if it is faster. You lose your warrantee, and stuff is more likely to break.
Every bit of power adds wear and tear on the rest of the car. The Z06 is built to handle the 405hp with stock parts. The WRX would have drivetrain soup if you tried to run that on the 5 spd.

Faster != Better (for all you C++ guys out there)

As to your second paragraph smaller cars feel faster.
At the end of the day, when your alone driving around. What really matters, what is faster or what feels faster?
To answer this question simply play a racing game then go out racing in any car (even a golf cart).
The videogame car is moving much faster (or at least that is what the instruments are saying) but is less fun than driving any car around a real track.

If you have the feeling of speed why does it matter if your slower, it's not like you need to be better than the next guy to have fun. That's a fools game.

There are countless members on this board who have had much faster cars, yet like the torqueless wonder better. Perhaps Honda includes a hit of acid with every S2k brochure.

Some people just don't know when to stop. Why don't just go and enjoy whatever ride you have, WRX, ZO6, S2K and have fun with it, instead of just whining and complaining!!!! I love my WRX, and have lots of fun in it, but if I could have a Z06, STI, M3 or anything like it, I wouldn't think about it twice.
And don't give me the "it handles better" crap, because at the local Auto-X, the faster cars are always the 'Vettes and 'Maros....
