Default supercharged civic type-r

my friend has a 1997 civic hatchback with a civic type-r motor basic bolt ons and a jackson racing supercharger, loudest car i have ever heard, i have had my car for three weeks, i have a comptech ice box, on the freeway from 75mph to 115mph i pulled about 3/4 of a car length, i was suprised and so were all of my friends, extremely stoked because my last car was a modded wrx, could beat anyone 0-60 but freeway runs were closer. later we tried from a stop, first time i tried launching, revved to 6000rpm and dropped clutch, it did not catch, rpms went up to 9 car did not move, put into second rpms go up car does not. Just curious if 6000 is too high, did i drop to fast, thanks.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. Your RPMS should drop even with some tire spin not go to 9k.

i call BS on your story... no way a s2 with an intake can keep up with a HB with a b16b(rear to see a b16b(JDMCTRmotor) in a hatch. could have been the b18c5 or JDM b18c which are ITR motor) but any ways a light weight car with swap, top it off a supercharger and you had 3/4 car length.... sorry i dont think so. The civic would have spank you... my friends teg who had a GSR SC tunned and waxed a s2 and the teg weights alot more. And for your clutch its slipping you may want to get that checked. droping at 6k is normal.

I had an Si and i know for sure if that car had a blower, it would eat a S. Your talking bout a lighter car with the same motor pushing out more horsepower, so definite win to the hatch. Maybe something wrong with the hatch?

2100 lb, haha cmon.

A newer EK-series HB is around 2400+. S2K does have better gearing but not good enough to beat a SC B18B HB.

Throw on a Jackson S/C that makes, say 60% more power and the B16b is making 320hp.

The B16b came from the factory with 185HP. 10.8:1 compression is not exactly boost friendly, so most use the supplied 5.5PSI pulley which adds about 50-60HP. That comes to right around 240HP. Throw in better gearing in the S and similar weights and you have a close race.

Similar weights, nooo way. The S is round 2,750 pounds while the hatch is 300-400 pounds lighter and will have more horsepower than the S.

Actually I was wrong on my previous weights for EKs, they range from 2200-2388 for MT models (http://www.clubcivic.com/board/civicspecs.php)

400-500 lb weight advantage on an s2000, which is hardly insignificant. But I could see a race like this ending up even due to driver BS.

Makes no sense to spend all the money on a civic type R motor(high compression) to add a supercharger to it. Might as well buy the cheaper and torquier(barely) GSR motor and supercharge that. CTR and ITR's should be all motor only IMO. My friend has a 01 yellow ITR with JUN ECU, Stage 3 cams, raised compression, JUN titanium exhaust, e.t.c. 13.2 on full interior and street tires! Just a 4 banger Also he has the JDM front end conversion which i love.
