Did you get to drive his car? How did it handle?
I rented a Focus ages ago. . . it was funky. . . not quite Japanese, not quite European, and definitely not American. . .
In other words, speed aside, is it a good fun car?

SVT Focus is a great car - I would not mind driving a SVT anyday.
) The handling is very good though. It will only understeer at the extreme limits. Until you get there, it's point and shoot. The skidpad numbers are about .91 g's I believe. I'm not sure what the S2K's are, but I think they are pretty close. A big difference between the cars is the flywheels. I think Ford tried out a lot of new technolgy (for them) on this car. This is only their 2nd car ever with a 6-speed manual (1st was the Cobra R I believe). It also has a Dual stage Intake which lets it breath more at higher rpm and help increase low end torque. The Honda S2000 has a very light weight flywheel, where as the Focus has a very heavy (about 24 lbs) flywheel. Both are 6-speed, though the Focus is geared higher. Plus it's redline is 7200 rpm instead of 9000. Both engines are 2.0 liters. Lots of feature comforts like 6-disc with subwoofer, audio controls on the steering wheel, HID lights, 17-inch wheels, and HEATED SEATS for under $20,000 rounds it all out to me at least. They're pretty unpopular with the majority, but with a limited supply (again, about the same number as the S2000) they can be hard to find especially because they are discontinued now. They had a three year run (02-04). www.focaljet.com for all your focus resources
The SVT Focus is a fun handling little car and I think Ford would sell alot of them if they slapped a blower on it and kept the price around Neon SRT territory. Unfortunately in stock form the SVT Focus will be losing to lots of cars on the road.

I agree completely, because that's what I drive every day. People say that the S2000 isn't a drag car. The SVT Focus is even worse. The standing acceleration is nothing you could confuse with a V-8 (unless you put one in there with a RWD conversion
