TT Rx7
The innovative technology employed in the S are a lot of things people take for granted.
The digital dash is not one of them, as it was a decision based on styling of the F1 cars. The car revs higher than most conventional piston driven cars of today therefore the scheme would appear to fit the car. Don't forget, the S2000 is a tribute to the first "S" cars, and Honda after so many years took an old idea and gave birth to a new generation "S' in the present.
The high x-bone frame is an innovation in a new level of rigidity for an open car to rival the stiffness found in most closed-top cars. To me, this is perhaps the largest accomplishment from Honda. Without going into some boring details, how the block was assembled with the internal parts allowed the engine to rev to what it can, safely and reliably. Don't forget, Honda was able to squeeze out 120hp per liter out of an unboosted engine in a production car, just to name a few.
I'm no engineer, but it must have taken a lot of time and effort just to develop the frame itself. The S is a very stiff car and the most rigid car I've ever owned in stock form and even some of my earlier modded cars.
SHIRI, what I don't understand is that you said that you don't like the rotary engines and you've never worked on them but you feel they are to be respected? That would mean that you only respect them for the speed potential of the car? My neighbor's modded Pinto was faster than anything I've ever owned so I'm guessing since one of my previous cars was an FD, that the Pinto is a better car? (I'm being a wise ass here but I don't understand how you can form an opinion based on zero knowledge or experience on an engine you claim not to like?)
If that's your stance on your opinion, then hey everyone's entitled to one. So far everyone I've met that seen, touched and/or worked on a rotary all agree that it's a remarkable piece of machinery, so simple and so effective, but far from perfect... just like any other car. BTW, the rotary's exhaust sound a lot more powerful than most Honda 4-banging cars IMHO.

I think this thread should be CLOSED
we have had enough trolls and arguments here.
We all know the RX-7 will beat an S2k yes so what their car is older but it still is very fast.
So I think an admin should shut the thread down for view only......

There's a few-thousand S2000 drivers in the U.S.A. alone who think they got a pretty good deal for the money they paid.
That's because they drove the car first before they judged it.
