.My FD runs on street tires and pump gas and is a 100% daily driver. To get an idea of the acceleration times, I urge any of you to make the 40 to 140 mph sprint I reference in my sig and compare.
In less than a month I will have redeployed back to Fort Hood. Wanna race, pal
?Fancy seein' you here, Jason
yes...fancy seeing you here rich.
Im moving down to austin in thirty days...perhaps some of you lonestar ladies in your girly honda droptops want to come out and play.

This thread is getting so stupid.
Unless the driver of the RX7 does something horribly wrong, it's gonna whomp on an S2k.
On top of this, we're comparing a boosted vs. N/A car which is a
If we were to try and keep the comparison simple, N/A vs N/A, an S2k would
a non-turbo RX7 as it too has less torque at lower revs and is no match for the kick of the S2k's VTEC.
If people are going to compare cars, the only fair way to do this IMHO is to do it at the stock OEM (unmodified) form because once someone decides to alter/mod the car, it changes the characteristics of the original car. It may shift the powerband up or down or otherwise, corner differently, brake with less distance, etc.
A well boosted IS300 can kick the teeth in a few modded RX7's out there that I know of but that isn't to say the IS300 is a faster car than the 7 because most IS's don't move that fast, only a select few. It just means that perhaps more mods are available or the car has that much more potential.
The FD is an incredible car but in stock form is incomplete as Mazda didn't do a good job in many areas like the poorly adaptive engine management system, weak Apex seals, poor stock cooling to deal with the heat issue, the problem of all the little vacuum hoses blowing off when you start increasing the pressure (zip ties work great tho), and such.
Both cars are incredible IMO, and I like them both equally. For sheer power, the FD is the clear winner and the best part is that it's light enough to corner (I hate to admit this but) perhaps outcorner the S2000 also, given good drivers in both cars. An RX7 with no boost is like a 2.4L Nissan 240SX which in its N/A form has absolutely no respect on the open roads unless it's packing boost.
On the streets, anything can happen. A turbo Eclipse could blow his motor and lose to a Saturn but that's not to say the Saturn is a better car... etc.
One last thing, in defense of the S2000... it takes boost to beat it or a lot more displacement. I haven't found a stock OEM 4 cylinder car or a stock rotary unboosted setup that can take out an S2000 easily anywhere within a reasonable range of its price range. All things considered, the S2k is still an awesome car.
