Question The ULTIMATE VIDEO- 350z vs. S2000

The Build Up... A background to the source of the video...

As I promised... myself and 3fiddyz wanted to end this ridiculous controversy of what car is faster.

In the process... We had svtmach1 (jsep productions www.jsept.tv) there to film the whole thing

The video itself is amazing! in an hour he cut and edited the whole thing. He could have done more, and we actually intended on having 3 more camera's out there (but just found it to be not necessary for this)...

The setting:
We did this with my better half about a half mile ahead on cop watch- with radios...

Aaron- 3fiddyz: 2003 FairladyZ with plenum and intake- slight advantage- BUT... advantage neutralized with 200lbs Camera man

    Joe- Joeking1978: 2002 Suzuka blue S2000- Stock! (with 18" SSR GT1's)
    [/LIST]SUMMARY
I'm curious to know what people think of the editing of the video... We were actually going to have another car, and a couple more camera's- including some mounts. We were going to then edit and cut multiple angles together... but without the third car... we were incapable... (it would have resulted in camera angles of one car... with camera's in or on it!). We'll probably put more footage like this together... but just for the editing purpose alone. This time, there was some huge fan fair that wanted to see the results of the race... next time, we can do it without even going over the speed limit... (the beuaty of editing )

Both cars have there advantages and disadvantges, just really depends on where you race them from.

          But very nice video

          Joe,
nice video and you made some good points. BUT, the 18's slow you down and the the Z had an intake (which helps most of all at speed). Overall, good video and explanation.

to answer both of your topics... those 18's are lighter then stock... and have made no difference in my times (track tested)... with the exception of autocross... they break easier.

We had both cars dyno'd at the freshwater tour... We found the exact hp that the plenum and intake provided. By calculation... the 200lbs passenger exactly equals the same power to weight ratio...

plus... we had the EXACT same results in all the times we ran before he had it installed... If he doesn't have a passenger however... he will pull me more easily from a roll then in the video...

but thanks for the good words!

(give some props to svtmach1 for filming and editing to though1 )

The 18's will slow you down due to the larger overall diameter, it's the same as going to taller rear end gears...not a good thing on an S2000. Throw some shorter gears on there and you'll smoke him.

18" rears on left, stock on right:

Both of us know how to drive- in fact we were 3 and 4 best lap times (me first! -with shitty tires too ) out of 40 at the TireRack's autocross.
Make that at least 4th and 5th.

that's why you get the proper tire with the right aspect ration so it won't screw with the overall rolling diameter.

who says that all 18" wheels will automatically produce a bigger diameter?

geoff... I don't remember seeing you hit 48?

...plus, I consider Gus and Harold one entity... they're like King Ghidora! ...a multi-headed racing maching...

exactly... ask any tire "expert"... and rolling diameter will lead to a higher centrifugal force if an equal weight... But... if the weight is lessened... then by pure physics... the centrifugal force will be limited too...

F=mv2/r (force equals MASS x velocity x 2 divided by RADIUS

And also... WHO MOVED THIS FROM THE GALLERY!!?? wtf!? I put this in there for the video... obviously the story sounds like a street encounter... but you have to give a story to go with the video... there's already a copy IN street encounters... stupid.
