Default Is the 01 that different from the 02

Reason being is I found a nice 01 for a good price and the color I want.

I could spring for the 02, but it would take a bit longer to find, more money.

What do you think?

The '02 has a glass rear window, updated transmission for smoother shifts, aluminum trim, leather-wrapped shift knob, different radio door (i think), slightly different tail lights (chrome added), and slightly more powerful radio.

I'd choose the '02 if it doesn't cost too much more than an '01.

I might get a hardtop for it.

the glass rear window is so much clearer when the weather conditions aren't so great. PLUS the glass windows are not prone to clouding. PLUS the resale value is higher. So if you're going to buy a used car, buy the best one.

I would recommend to anyone looking for a used s2000 to get a 2002 or 2003 model. That way you get the F20C (9000rpm, as god intended), and the glass rear window. Everything else is easily changed as needed.

I wish I waited and sprung for a 2002-2003, it's well worth the money. The transmission update alone makes it worth it, the glass rear window, chrome rings around the taillights (and yes, they do make quite a difference), sliiiiiiigggggghhhhhtly updated interior, and Sebring silver (plug for the Sebring guys) being offered just adds to basket. Also, most of the little kinks were ironed out, and more importantly the oil starvation to the Cylinder 4 is nonexistant and it also gets the updated fuel injectors. Long story short, get the 02-03 unless you get some kick ass deal on the 00-01.

I also will add get the color you want, because if you don't everytime you see one you'll wish you did...Good luck finding what you want.
