So th3 S2000 is set to continue into '02 prodution. Earlier model years are still as limited as they ever were. It's not as if we've been told that actual production runs for '00 and '01 were higher than advertised.

Now what will the reaction be if Honda has been listening to the gripes of owners and responds with improvements such as a glass rear window or an improved stereo? Will that further inflame original owners? Or are they damned if they do, damned if they don't? It's a car, and a great one at that, not a long term investment.

Bad idea to ever think of a car as an investment. Property, stocks, mutual funds, iras...those are investments. Honda S2000 = a great sports car at a great price. Get over it, whether they make 20,000 total or 1,000,000 I will love driving mine everyday.

By the way, who made this news official, please tell me it was not your dealer that told you.

JSHYTHEHONDAGUY made it official first yesterday. I confirmed by going to my dealer and seeing the color chart for the '02 models. The S2000 was on that chart. I believe that this Thread has the info your asking about.

I agree with Low-S2000. . . Purchasing a production car with the hope that it will appreciate in value is a lost cause. . . The NY Times did an article (about a year ago) on this topic. . . Bottomline, no mass production vehicle (including most limited edition Porsches, Ferraris, etc) has aprreciated in value over the last 30-40 years. . . Typically, only the depreciation is affected (i.e., most cars depreciate in value much quicker than others). . .

Therefore, you shouldn't be concerned with the continued production of the S2000. . . Enjoy your car for what it is. . . a really nice car

If they come out with the items mentioned I would seriously consider pulling my mods and trading for the new model.

I am kinda surprise that most of us have an ill feeling about this. Even before they released the S2K here in the States, I have read information on the net and on the mags that the car will be in a limited production run and will stop production after a cycle which is four years. I am just wondering if someone here read the same article before. I am not sure if it was VTEC.net or on of those honda sites that has the info.

Anyways, no hard feelings here, harm no foul. I have a great driving machine, I am happy everytime I run around with it. I've got smiles on my face everytime the wind blows on my face... and most of all I've got one in my garage.

Just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Just my $0.02

Later,

A frriend of mine, who is not into cars at all (he always buys the plainest Olds or Buick available), once said that a car is kind of like a can of beer. You drink it (use it up) and then basically throw it away. The only difference is that the car lasts a little longer. I guess he's right in a way.

For me, not a bitter reality. Did not buy this car for speculation but enjoyment of a sportscar, hence the mods I have done to make this car even more enjoyable for me. No problem.

I do think my '91 (editted from '90, for it IS a 1991 MODEL...) BRG Miata is starting to get some stares when I take it out... but, whatever.

What is up with people saying they bought the S2000 as an investment? Can anyone name any Japanese production cars over the last 10 years that have appreciated in value? I wont to keep my S2000 and enjoy for several years. Hopefully it will retain a high percentage of its original cost. I will consider this a good investment for the amount of pleasure the car gives me.
And about the 2 year run. How could anyone believe this? How many successful production cars over the last 10 years have been limited to a 2 year run?
