Default 02 Soft Top Wear

I just noticed my top is starting to wear... The spot is right behind/under the latch on the driver-side. The latch seems to pinching the material down and causing it to wear. Pics below.

Searching led to similar issues with 02's.
Roof latches poke through top when down
How many have tear in top...under driver-side latch

I am not sure where to start...Should I attempt to contact a dealer or Hondacare immediately? Or should I wait until it fully wears through?
Any other recommendations on how to prevent further wear?

As far as preventing wear:

- Make sure your elastic straps are doing their job and pulling the bar back, otherwise the top really gets stretched against the latches

bad straps

good straps
Modifry has the fix.

- Consider adding some protection behind. The latches aren't all that sharp on the edges, but over time they will rough up the top. This is cove base (commercial floor molding) from Home Depot. Cost a couple bucks for 3 feet. Black, soft, easy to cut. Fashion a couple strips, pull the latches, 2-way tape them to the top frame, re-install latches.

Good luck.

I will definitely check out the straps for wear.
Before I saw your reply I bought some felt padding that might help...but, that cover base looks heavier and may work better...
Thanks for the tips.
