03 or 04?
I have just gone through this debate. I decided to sell my 01' S2K because I wanted something newer (even though mine isn't that old and only has 28K miles).
I debated between the 03 and the 04. I like the look of the 04 and the increased torque curve. But I don't like the lower redline. Otherwise, the car is great!
I probably would have chosen the 04' over an 03' if I was willing to spend $30K. But I decided that I wanted to spend less but get something as new as I could, so I searched for an 03 with low mileage for $26K or less.
The 03' was also a good choice because I knew that I would save on depreciation, get something almost new (<10K miles) and know that they had made many improvements since 00.
If I had gotten the 04, I'm sure I could have lived with the lowered redline, and I'm sure I would have gotten used to it, as well as the more useful midrange torque curve.
So it really depends on what YOU like and how much you want to spend.
For me, the 03' was a better choice at this time. But I do like the 04's and have a friend who has one. It's a beauty!
I'm not worried about whether mine is "faster" or "better" than his, as they are both Honda S2000's and they both offer much performance and value for the money.
