Could I turbo an S2000 properly and efficiently for under 5grand?
Yes; but as in everything "that depends". You can spend under $5K if you wait for a nice group buy (there is actually one going on right now... $3700 I think, probably close to $5K installed with any missing pieces needed) or are willing to go for a used kit. Same for a super charger. Both will get you about an additional 100HP at the rear wheels.

Now, if you want to get over 400HP then your talking more than 5K

I used to have a lexus sc400 and was a really comfy car and heavy as hell. After test driving the s2000 I couldn't believe how quick the car responds to turns and is a blast to drive. However, I enjoy driving my s2000 most when the top is down. I miss my sc400, but when I ride in my s2000 with the top down, I forget about the sc400.

I schooled a 99 M3 at track day at Summit Point a couple of years ago.
You schooled the driver of a 99 M3 at summit point. Ultimately the S2000 should be faster around the track, but come on

you are wrong on so many levels. Most bmws will make it to upwards of 300k miles if cared for

For weekend driving, the S2K hands down.
For track driving, it is easier and cheaper to make m3 perform lot better with the already nice 3.2L inline 6. with m50 manifold, euro hfm, pullys and a reflash and you'll be easily at 270whp.

Style s2k wins
maintenance, s2k wins (less oil per quart needed )

both cars rule tho

I'm getting a e36m3 as a daily and keeping my s2k as track only.

"you are wrong on so many levels. Most bmws will make it to upwards of 300k miles if cared for"

???

1. most bimmers don't make to upwards of 300kmiles
2. most who buy bimmers don't care for
3. since most who buy bimmers don't car for, most bimmers won't make to upwards of 300kmiles

i would live 200 years if i cared for...

ok, i used have E36 m3! loved it...found it very reliable as well.
but i think it's a very good trade to lower miles, recent year model car that's just as fun.
