Maybe Honda quietly lowered the fuel cut-off sometime after MY00. I admit that is pure speculation but you never know! Either way, I think a digital rev gauge would be more accurate than the OBD-II sensor when it comes to measuring fuel cut-off.

Jason,
What are you using to measure RPM?

Modifry wrote that article. I do have his shift beeper installed and played back 9000 before. If you read the article the s2000 tac is off a little.

I did read it, but I guess I didn't realize it was Modifry that wrote it. With your results different than his, I wonder just how accurate his shift beeper really is (at least for determining the RPM value at fuel cut-off).

I meant to say 9,000, I hit it one time. About 99% when I shift when the red light blinks on the tac, it plays back at 8900.

Last night my friends were in their 04 and got to 8300 rpm and did not hit the rev limiter or the blinking lights.

I corrected my post above. Sorry. I was just quoting what Honda has published.

Rev Limit / Fuel Cutoff
2004 (2.2): 8000/8200
2003 (2.0): 8800/9000

I also read that article. A sound alarm is not the best way to determine things. It will take a fraction of a second to go from 8800 to 9200 at which time fuel cutoff will bring revs down significantly.

My SPA gauge is digital all the way from pickup to display so I have no reason to suspect it is not accurate. I think I can have the tach blink and have a highwater mark less than 9000. Difficult to say however. If you wait for the last segments to blink in a recognizable way you'll bounce against the rev limiter quite easily.

The highest I recorded was in the vicinity of 9230. And, nope, not on a downshift.
