I hit the rev limiter several times when I first got the car. I was used to being able to feel my old car start to lose power right around redline, but the s2k just keeps pulling until you smack the rev limiter and feel like you hit a wall

Yep, regular daily driven cars make most of their power in the midrange and then just die after 6k rpms. The average person doesn't redline so it makes sense and the power is quicker to get to.

your good hitting the rev limiter, the problem is if you downshift and over'rev
