[quote name='honda606' date='Jan 15 2009, 06:31 PM'] If you own an 00-03 model then the only tires that should be on the car are the Bridgestone S02's.

If you read through the comments, someone looked on the local court website and noted that the driver of the s2000 had 7 traffic infractions within a 2 year period recently. While still tragic, it makes the wreck and subsequent death not that surprising.

*chuckles*

I think you have bit to much blind faith in Honda's engineers. Between the many makes and models of tires, the S02's are not the be all end all. Of course you didn't not say that, but your wording implies it.

There is *NEVER* one size fits all. But I understand the jist of your point: You should be able to afford the best (at least right) tire for the right conditions, assuming that the S02s were the best fit for given condition.

Anyway, I hope you wouldn't crucify me for driving my S on Bridgestone Blizzaks in Eastern Pennsylvania during the winter?

Also, i'm pretty surprised that there would be specific S02's for the s2k. Could you verify this? This would be very misleading on part of a tire manufacturer to call 2 different models of tires by the same model-name.
If you look at tire rack for Porsche tires, Porsche often does have a special tire that is called the same name but that is N rated, denoting that the tire is acceptable for use on the Porsche that comes with a stock wheel that accomodates its size. Honda has no such system, people just seem to enjoy dogmatically repeating certain things (such as S02 or bust) on this board.

If only you actually knew what you were talking about.

Sympathies to the families of the two young men. The loss of life far exceeds discussions of impacts, etc.

My condolences to the families of the driver and passenger.

Seeing the feet of the body under the yellow tarp in the picture really makes this tragedy hit home.

i wrecked my car due to bald tires at about 70, slammed into a metal and wooden fence. car stopped with the front bumper touching a telephone pole. since then i've ran nothing but new tires, all of the time. it sucks that guy, lives locally to me, and i've seen him driving around a few times, but never met him.
