For those of you familiar with this subject, how soon after getting the car does it begin to occur, and how often do you experience it. I believe it is beginning to happen to me (MY2001, 2500mi). It does not occur often, maybe once or twice a week, and it only happens at or near redline. So what I am trying to figure out is whether I am getting sloppy with my shifting, or do I need the TSB.
The TSB grind happens all over the rpm spectrum. I personally account for the high rev grinds as me getting sloppy with the clutch. After I got the TSB done though, no more randome grinds...only ones that are my own fault. good luck with yours
When I when on my two week trip last May, it became quite obvious that the grind happens more in hot weather than in cool weather. I just had my transmission repaired last week for a bent shift fork on 5th gear and they installed the fix for 2nd gear while they had the transmission out. It will probably be six months before I find out for sure if the 2nd gear grind problem is really fixed, since the weather is cooling off.
cdelena:I have the same problem. I had the TSB done Twice, and just got done with the District manager (see my clutch post). I still have an open file with Honda and will begin the fight. But...I'm wondering if this is something we need to gather data on like was done for the 4cyc failure and approach Honda as a group. One thing I know for sure is every grind hurts the Syncro rings and they don't heal themselves.....
