#1 Most Difficult OEM Part to Get!
[RANT]
First, I went with my man, Jeff- AKA Hardtopguy. I've ordered LOTS of parts from him before with no problems. Placed my order this time, waited, and received the part broken.
Sent the part back, and an e-mail to Jeff. No answer for weeks, I called him and he said he'll try to get it.
I waited and sent another e-mail about it- no answer. I called after about another month, and Jeff said he ordered several and they were all broken, but he would try to get me an unbroken one.
About another month passes, so I send another e-mail- again, no response. Keep in mind I paid for these parts 06 JAN 2005.
Anyway, I gave up on Jeff, at least for this order. To add insult to injury, he sent me some incorrect parts on the same order, then when he replaced them with the correct (cheaper) ones, he didn't refund my money [ouch!].
So now I've gone to my local dealer for the part, and sure enough- it came in broken. First, the parts guys tried to tell me it's okay to use, then when they realized I know more about the S2000 than all of them put together, they reluctantly agreed to re-order.
I'm willing to bet I don't get an unbroken replacement from Honda of Hollywood. They've not been helpful in the past. I can only wait now.
My next resort is to go to Matt Piercey at Honda World. Hopefully, that parts dept. will come through for the OWNER of the dealership!
If that doesn't work I'll have to start raising hell with Honda of America. Hopefully, it won't come to that.
For the life of me, I can't understand why it's so difficult to call the parts warehouse, and get an unbroken part packed carefully and shipped out!
Here's a pic of the part with the broken tang. It's the upper steering column cover, and if the tang is broken, there will be a gap between the upper and lower cover.

I got one of those from Majestichonda.com without a problem. The part is very easy to break when the lower cover is removed. Mine broke the first time I pulled the lower cover off. I still haven't installed the new one. I want to make sure that I am done moding first. I have an '04.
Wow. I'm sorry about the struggle. It seems I always have similar problems when trying to fix my car. I obtained a warped front lip from Hardtopguy a while back, but Jeff fixed the problem immediately.
Since you're using the Rule of Rescue, I'm sure things will get taken care of...
Good luck!
