1st oil change question...
your results may vary.
I bought my car used (trade in at the Acura dealer). Our CL (at the time) had free lifetime oil changes thanks to the dealer. I asked the dealer to throw that in as part of the sale, and they did...
3 months, or 3000 miles for life... That adds up over time
I keep on thinking about if I made the right choice in going from my 99 Vette to the S2000 in the interest of going back to college...
50+ bucks an oil change gets expensive after a while
So far, the Honda only costs me gas and insurance to drive (oh, and the cost to purchase initially)... cant beat that.
See if your dealer might throw in a free oil change for life type of thing... If not, I know the Acura dealer normally charges 100 bucks for that, but threw it in for free on the CL-S we had, and also on my S2000...
even 100 bucks is a deal for free oil changes for life.
good luck!

All the many Hondas I had I always changed the oil at 5,000 mile intervals. This made it easy to remember, 5,000 then 10,000 then 15,000...... Changed over to Mobil 1 5/30 and never had any engine problems. My last Honda, 2000 Prelude used oil if I vtec'ed a lot. On long trips it never used a drop. On the S2000, I'll follow the same rule. That's my $.02 worth.
So the recommendation is 5000 mi, not 3750, and defintely NOT 7500? Thanks. Better get that oil change later. I should buy stock OEM filters from Honda? Or just a quality name brand? Or do you guys have it done at the Honda dealer or at the local quik-lube place? Is there other work that should be done at this maintenance interval. I know, read the manual, but I rather listen to a higher order, my fellow stookers.

Edward

The service manual recommends regular oil changes at 7,500 miles for normal conditions and 3,750 miles for severe conditions. Normally most people don't drive in "normal" conditions. Normal means long, simple highway driving. Severe means frequent short trips, or stop and go, or dusty conditions, or mountains or hot weather.
In other words, normal is not normal.
Severe is what most people drive and "normal" is abnormally gentle.
