Default 2.2L = 260hp

i was told by Wilde Sun Honda in Sarasota Fl. (on vacation) yesterday that the new 2.2 s2000 will have 260hp --- no changes to the look of the car tho.

the guy who gave me the specs appeard to be well informed... for example, he didnt think that the 03 model had 260 also (some salespeople are clueless)

if thats true --- those considering an 03 or 04 should SERIOUSLY consider waiting a few months... with the increase in HP and torque found earlier in the rev range, this car may crack into the 4s...

considering the recent influx of high performance / low price import sports cars, honda will need to either up the performance or lower the price to keep sales up...

FWIW, i also sat in an RX8, and without expecting much, was blown away. if i needed a 4 seater, that would be tops on my list...

Did I understand correctly, you think 20 additional HP would make this a sub 5 sec 0 to 60 supercar?

sure. why not?? some mags timed the current s2000 at low 5's. with the potential better low end torque of the 2.2, you can launch at a lower rpm with less tire spin and thus a faster time, if not high 4's then definitely super low 5's.

I think it's possible, but not really likely. What I think IS likely, is that it will be a lot easier to achieve the car's optimum 0-60 time versus now. And you will likely see consistent 1/4 miles in the 13's

This beginning statement alone should have clued you in to whether or not the rest of your post should be taken seriously. Dealers will tell you there is a PORT-A-POTTY in the trunk if it'll peak your interest and get you back.

Wow, and all this time I thought I already had the hole dug back there...no wonder it's starting to stink. Do you think I should cover it with some dirt?
