2.2L Engine swap
i just replaced my 03 motor with the honda factory replacement which is the 04+ motor. Honda of America does not carry the 99-03 motors. I'm unsure of how it works but my mechanic is using the 03 Ecu with the 04 "short block" replacement. My motor was over revved and i purchased this short block replacement for some price.

I doubt retainers will have much of an impact here, I would guess the 2.2 head is the same as the 2.0 head sans cams.
The concern here is the rods and those aren't that easy to inspect.

I'm probably just confused though, it happens alot.

actually woodwork commented at MegaMeet that all new replacement blocks for MY00-03 will be based off the f22C block but will have f20C crank, rods, pistons. There are improvments to the new block. It will be interesting to see if the new block but the old cranks, etc removes the oil burning issues.

How did you use the '04 ecu? Dealer reprogram?
Joe/Jeff is this possible?
Plus, the increased redline would keep me in the VTEC on that 1-2 shift, yielding better acceleration times.
The ECU cannot be re-programmed. It can only be swapped out for an earlier one.
If the dealer says they'll warrant any damage stemming from a different ECU, go for it. They'll have to be nuts to do that, though. They're risking several thousand dollars in grenaded engine bits if things go wrong.

BTW why are you all using the MY01 ECU? Why not a MY02-03 ECU? Don't the MY02-03 ECU's run a bit leaner giving you more power? Or do you want to be safer with the richer MY01 ECU?
While the 02-03 ECU works great for a 2.0 liter engine, it could possibly be too lean for a 2.2 liter engine. Therefore, the slightly richer 00-01 ECU would be a better fit for the larger engine.
