2.2L S2000 to get i-VTEC
So the real questions are:
1) Will the new motor effectively be just a stroked K-series?
2) When will the car really appear in showrooms? We've seen indications that it'll be an '04 model, which would imply we'd see it perhaps as early as October... But if they wait till NAIAS, could it be they'll wait till spring or even fall of '04 and debut it as an '05? The S was originally shown at LA and NAIAS in '99 and didn't hit showrooms till September.
Curiouser and curiouser...

Ok, this is NOT facts, this is just my opinion.
I think the S2000 convertible w/ the 2.2L engine will come out as planned in sept or whenever new models come out. I would expect this engine to have i-VTEC
I think a coupe version will debut at Detroit in January, w/ a 2.2L i-VTEC.

After driving my buddy's Civic Si that has i-vtec, on his car it seemed to smooth the vtec transition out quite a bit, but he had tons of torque down low compared to most 4 cylinder engines of that size. This change seems to be addressing some people's complaint about the S2000 not having enough torque down low. I have no problem with them doing this as long as they don't get rid of the high RPM rush we have now.
Well, the only thing Honda mentioned in their brochure is was that it would have a 2.2L. I would think they'd mention a coupe model. If the coupe debutes in January (this is of course speculation), it would probably be a 2005 model. Just my opinion.

Sounds to me that the S2200 will be an improved car in many ways.. hope the clutch/transmission is better.
