Only if they implement that 'feature'. My C5 had this and it was kinda weird - left foot on the brake and the gas pedal was essentially turned off, but only at speed IIRC (mine was a 6-speed, not sure about the automatics). Other than that, I see no downside. As digital as the car is currently, I'm surprised it doesn't already have it.

I've also heard rumors of them putting in an automatic transmission. I wouldn't want one but I say go for it! I bet they'd sell a lot more S2000's to women, who wouldn't want a women with her own S2000 as your girlfriend/wife ect. And as hard as this car is to drag race you'd get much more consistant 1/4 mile times! Just because there was an automatic transmission option it wouldn't make the S2000 cease to be an awesome sports car, there's $500,000 super cars out there with auto-trannies.

Not necessarily in the S2000. Honda may want to keep it's structural integrity. The top could make it weigh more.

It is worth a lot - boring almost never affects redline - it is stroking that does, because of increased movement of the piston at the top of its travel. I say who cares about a few hundred RPM, if you get better torque over a wider range? I will not feel let down by Honda if that si the road they travel - I'll drive it!

I Care! The 9000 redline is one of the defining features of the car. If they do indeed drop the redline, and keep the power the same, in one deft sweep, they've taken away TWO titles the car currently holds. Highest redline in a production car and Highest specific output in a normally aspirated car! I care because both of our leases are up next year and we'll be looking at these cars. I care since there's nothing wrong with the torque output of the current engine! Show me a 2.0 NA with more torque?

You guys are a bunch of fruities...Just wait till it comes out. All I hear is bitching and moaning about 10 xtra horse power not being enough. I bet the torque curve is going to be much better. I guess you haven't noticed that the S2000 is a torque-less baby. That's one of the reasons I sold it. I bet the new s2200, even with "only" 10 extra HP will out run the s2000 and have everyday drivability you guys will be crying for. I have driven a RSX with i-VTEC and it's much more flexable.
