I'm almost certain he was using AEM EMS... This is something that is only used with boosted cars right??

uh, it sounds like anti-lag...only used on turbo cars. It delays spark, when off throttle, until the exhaust valve opens and causes explosions down the exhaust to keep the turbo spooled. This allows the turbo to create boost even at idle or off throttle conditions and give you more power when you get back on throttle. It's used mostly in rallying. We tried it out on our Formula SAE car, we called it bang-bang because it was pretty loud even at idle.

in the vid they used 2-step and anti-lag. Sometimes they used one without the other. So what exactyl does the 2-step do?? Is it basically a rev limiter that lets u limit ur launch to a certain rpm??

Yes, I have a "stage limiter" "2-step limiter" "stutterbox" etc. has many names and is incorporated into the EMS. Basically it is a softcut rev limiter that engages when you are below a set mph. Mine is set to 5500rpm and under 2mph. For me this makes a perfect launch at sea level, but I'm going to have to bump it up a little higher for 5000ft. alt.
