Get it done, you will be happier with your S2K afterwards, I know mine was really bad, I've had it about a year, and now has 36k on it, I had the TSB's done at 32K. It's just like new and seems even better then before.

MDS2K- When was your car born??? I have a 2001 #3045 and she was born late on December, 2000. As someone else mentioned it could apply to really early 2000 built 2001 models. Let me know, I want to watch out for it. I have just over 2,000 miles on mine.

I'm with Allan et. al. I am not going to have the transmission, clutch, or seat belt recall and TSB's done until I have to. Besides, maybe a new clutch at about 30K miles wouldn't be bad, it should really be rattlin' by then!

I've got an '01, #1297, and I've got the gear backlash symptoms as well. I mentioned it at my 3750 mile checkup, and the guy said they'd be happy to do the TSB. Of course, it was just a casual inquiry, and I don't plan on taking him at his word just yet. In either case, I'm waiting til I put a bit more abuse on my clutch before getting it done .

More on the "buz". Mine may not be as bad as some. Perhaps mine was built with the updated disc? It sounds and occurs exactly like the TSB describes, but it just doesn't bother me; and I'm the kind of nut that will spend hours hunting for the source of a squeak in the dash! If mine roared the way others have described it, I'd probably send it in for surgery.

Have just under 2k miles on mine and I am getting the buzzing as well. Not to bad - if it stays at this level, I can probably live with it.

Important question: How do you figure out the manufacture date on your vehicle? I have a feeling my car might have been manufacture in 2000 even though it was sold to me as a 2001.

I am seriosly considering this... not so much because I can't stand the noise, but because my transmision is extremly notchy... Sometimes it will not go in to first w/ out putting it in second or third and realeasing the clutch a little bit. And I often 'scratch' second and third (To answer your question-- Yes the clutch is all the way in).

Here is a dumb question:
When you have TSB 00-055 and/or TSB 00-054 work done on our car; and have the Clutch disk, counter shaft 1st gear and counter shaft second gear set and whatever they replace/repair to do the TSB's, is it like a whole new transmission.

My tranny has been stubborn since day one. In the begining, I thought it was just a tight new box. However, overtime it has not improved in fact it has become more and more difficult. I haven't thought much about it, and had just decided to live with it.
However, the other day Sondra drove my car and was extremly preturbed by it. And this has made me wonder, "Why put up w/ a notchy irregular transmission, if a smoother easier one is avalaible?" My transmission is the only one I have felt-- so maybe I do not know what I am missing?

Anyhow baisically I'm asking if I get these TSB's taken care of, will my whole transmission work better???? Oppions please. If not what do I need to do to get smooth tranny. And, finally, under theses circumstances do you guys/gals think I should take my wonderful baby to the hospital and have surgery??? Thanks in advance!
*trying to make up my mind*
