Default 2002 owners, oil consumption?

I've had my '02 S2000 for about 3 weeks now. I have about 800 miles and I have not added any oil. The car runs perfect. I've read about how much oil everyone here('00, '01) had to add during break in. I check it at each fuel up, and in my driveway went I return from a drive with lots of VTEC action Each time I check, the engine has sat from only 1-10 minutes. So far, It has always been to the top of the <XXXXX> on both sides, with multiple checks each time.

Am I checking too soon, or do the '02 engine consume less oil(broken in more at the factory perhaps?)

Thanks!

My '02 has drasticly less oil consumption than my '00 did... In ~2000 miles I've added 1/4 of a quart of oil.

Every engine and every break-in regimen will vary. Just as many don't use oil as do. I have a '00 that didn't use a drop in the first 5K miles. I don't think it has anything to do with year model.

I have about 300 miles on my 02, and I just fill the second tank of fuel, I check the oil level after fill up, there are no problem of decrease engine oil on my car so far.

yes, you should check engine oil level every time you fill up.

I've had mine for about a month and I've put aout 1800 miles on it and I just added a 1/4 of oil. (I couldn't resist but I've VTEC a few times before really breaking it in.)

Owned my '02 for five weeks and driven 750 miles -- very little oil consumed. I'm down a fifth of a quart. I get the impression that '02s are easier on the oil than previous model years, but I'll continue to check after every fill-up.

BTW, how do you like your TT? Any electrical problems?

Love the TT as a daily driver/all year round sporty car that can carry a good amount of stuff. I "thought" it was a sports car, but now that I have the S2000, even with all the mods I have done to the TT, I realize that it is not a sports car and more a GT car. People who try to compare the TT vs. S2000 are wasting their time because they are two great, but TOTALLY different cars. And I am lucky enough to have both

As for electrical, no problems yet and I have 57,000 miles.

I've only got 800 or so miles on my '02 and no oil consumption as of yet.

My '01 wasn't that bad on oil bud it did consume about a quart and a half in 9,000 or so miles.

I seriously doubt that the '01 and '00 engines are different from the '02 from the respect of how much oil they burn. I tend to believe that it has more to do with how the engines are broken in. In other words, I think many owners of the early cars didn't know about or didn't pay much attention to the break in period. Now (with the help of this great site) more of us are being dilligent about following the break in period.

Just my guess.

I check it on a regular basis. I noticed that the oil consumption increased after I started to hit the VTEC range. I added my first quart at 1100 miles. At 600 miles, the oil level was still full. The harder you run it, the more oil it will burn.

2400 miles. When it was new, oil level was above the top limit on the dipstick. At this point, level is now right smack at the middle. I'll add more oil once it reaches the lower limit.
