mines does the same, it's normal

If he's getting an audible click changing into a specific gear, that's different then the standard notchy feel most S2000s have switching gears at lower RPMs or greatly mismatched RPMs. For me the notchiness got better with mileage (or experience).

If the fluid change doesn't help, get someone with honda experience to look at it.
