Default 2002 S2k pricing and eventful test drive

Does anyone know of the MSRP for 2002 S2000 pricing. I was at Crest Honda in nashville and they SWORE that it was $36,000. I didn't believe this since they once asked $38,000 for a new one...but they said that was the NEW 2002 pricing. I know there were a number of upgrades but I wouldn't think the MSRP would jump that much.

On another note...I test drove one with 16,000 miles that they were asking $31,000 for. While we were driving the oil drain plug FELL OUT. Lots of smoke and lots of oil needless to say. And they still weren't willing to come off the price.

Sounds like the dealer is smokin something...

A couple of posts recently have talked about 2002 for 2001 price and some 2001 + $100. Still others have mentioned 2001 + 1-2%. Hopefully you can find an honest dealer...or at least one not willing to resort to those tactics.

That oil plug falling out is the car warning you to go to a different dealer. Don't fall for their tactics- you can get an S2000 anywhere and probably pick your color, and a brand new one for ~32K.

You got that right. I would add that you should run out of that dealership and find another one that is (1) fair and (2) competent. They do exist.

loyed, I live in Nashville and have had some experience with Crest (good and bad). If interested PM me. Also I can say without hesitation that the price on the 02 has NOT been released by Honda yet so the dealer has no way of knowing but I'm willing to bet it's well under 36k.

Actually, the price HAS officially been released by Honda. MSRP for the 2002 S2000 is $32,400.

Hi there,
I'm from nashville too!!! and for me, i have really bad experience with crest honda. When i bought my prelude, they asked for 28,000!!! and the car was a base model too!!! So i highly doubt the price for a 02 s2000 is 36 grand. If u got time, i suggest u go to the other dealer. I heard great things about the one on gallatin pike N near cartronics...
