Well then your decision is made for you. Sounds like it's time to close this topic.

If the AP2 is out of your range then I would suggest you go for the AP1 Good luck.
If I was going to spend over $20K, I would just spend $25K and buy a 2002 Boxster S. However, if I was going to spend $25K to $30K on a Boxster S, then why not spend $30K to $35K on a 2005 C6 Corvette? If you are spending that much for a 2005 Corvette, then why not spend $40K on a 1998 Viper GTS? The leit goes on in $5K amounts.

I just sold my NSX so I can afford more than $20K. However, the S2000 only provives a bargen for me at under $20K. Over $20K, and I start thinking that a Boxster S is the way to go.

I think I might want a 2004 but I'm not willing to pay over $20K. I can get them any day of the week for under $22K. So, so do I wait for winter and hope we see a price adjustement? Do I just go buy the AP1? Do I add in a few thousand more and get the Boxster S? These are the questions facing me...

get an s2000. ap2 or ap1..you wont regret it...boxster s...many of us here in the forum would say we can outperform that boxter s anyday, anytime, anywhere, even with our stock form.

wether you get an ap1 or ap2, it doesnt really matter, they are about even cars, both are fun cars, it will come down to preference and budget, and gettin an ap1 or ap2 is a good idea because you can make it better by doing some upgrade on suspension and power and then you be happier (but you have to do it right), and then you will be able to take on many other types of cars on the street.

but i say that an ap2 for $20k and up price tag is still worth it.

So if you know the technical differences and you know the history of the ap1/ap2 arguments on this site from reading all the threads, why are you asking us? Is this just a troll for more ap1/ap2 debate?

Just get the newest car you can/wish-to afford.

Boxster is a nice car, the older ones can be had for a lot less than 20k. The S, closer to 20-25k. If your looking for a Honda, then you are probably looking at some reliability. If I were you go and buy whatever you can strike a deal on. Either one is a great car.

I understand your situation perfectly. I went through that when I was shopping for a new car, but there're more factors to it then just the price. And you also you need to put a limit on your budget as well. Porches Boxster S was one of my choice, so was the 350z, MR-2 Spyder ect..., but I chose to go with the S2000 because Honda is reliable and the S2000 is a head turner.

You can get 04 Crossfires for under $20k now - two seats, hard top, fun to drive and with low miles. They're quieter than S2000s.
