I'm not stating there is a $4K difference between the two cars I drove. I'm saying there is at least a $4k differnce in price between the average 2002 and 2004. That's a much greater difference than between and 2000 and 2002. I can justify $3K differnce but not $4K. I know all the technical differences...

AP1 allows you to run longer in VTEC, which simply translates into more fun
Buy an AP1 in great shape and put yourself in the under $20 range
There, problem solved...

AP2's engage V-tec at 5,800rpms. We use it for 2,200rpms.
What a difference!!! A Whole 100 rpm's longer.

For the track, go with the cheapest option. IMO, I would just have kept the NSX and track it.

If I was going to spend over $20K, I would just spend $25K and buy a 2002 Boxster S. However, if I was going to spend $25K to $30K on a Boxster S, then why not spend $30K to $35K on a 2005 C6 Corvette? If you are spending that much for a 2005 Corvette, then why not spend $40K on a 1998 Viper GTS?
Especially the Corvette, which is still made by the leader in shi*ty quality--GM. Dodge is not that far behind in their quest to become number one in poor quality. The Porshe, on the other hand, will rape you like an inmate on Viagra in parts costs.
So there you have it, you can buy an S2000 and get (relatively) cheap repair parts that you dont have to replace every days or buy a Dodge (frequenjcy of repairs) a Corvette (frequency of repairs) or the Boxter (cost of parts).
I think that you should go for the 2004. I went from a 2000 to a 2004 and I am not disappointed.
The main difference in the two is that the 2004 has a little more down low power and is a little more forgiving in hard turns.
Those two things alone make the 2004 a better car TO ME.

Well, AP1's V-tec engagement point is at 6,500rpms. So, you use it for 2,300rpms.
AP2's engage V-tec at 5,800rpms. We use it for 2,200rpms.
