im about to purchase a 2002 s2000, and before i do so my father wanted to test drive it, He currently owns a 2000 boxster s and when he test drove the car he hated the engine. He kept complaining about the low end torque. I had a chance to test drive it also but maybe since im use to driving my 2000 Honda Accord V-6 the s2000 felt like a crazy car. Since most of you own the car how bad is the low end torque??? And what's the deal with it. I know its only 153lb @ 7500RPM but how bad is this?

Where do these mile-e-es come from???
Both my S2000's had less than 3 miles on them!

It's just a different style of driving... Just rev higher into the rev range.

He also was worried that the engine will break down because of the reving to 8000-9000rpm. He thinks that the car engine won't last long.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your Dad's Boxster S redlines at 7200 rpm and it's not that far from 8000-9000. Don't tell me he doesn't visit 7200 often... I do . I'm sure the Honda can handle it. BTW is your dad an SCBG member?

Anyway, wadda ya listening to Dad for? It'll be your car and you'll be driving it, not him, I presume. Of course, if some or all of the $$$ is coming from him I guess it would hurt to take some advice

YellowS2K2002, once you've broken it in, give your dad a run for his money. He'll be suprised at how well the S2000 compares to the Boxster S.

actually the boxster s does just fine at auto-x....but it has to run in the SS class, which means it competes with the Z06. That is why it never wins anything.
