Is a 2004-2005 S2000 doomed to have tranny issues?

Have a 2006 but I do find getting into 2nd gear rather hard, especially when the transmission is cold.
The remedy that I use when the transmission is cold, is to start in 2nd until the transmission warms up.
Two thoughts that may help you (I also have a 2006) --

1) Change your trans fluid every 10-15k, no later.
2) In the morning or whenever you do a cold start, row through every gear twice before you move.

Sorry to be off topic here sort of but (these are numbered in reference to the 2 questions above);

1) If I bought my 04 in July of 2012 with 7200 miles. Now about 8 months later and at about 14,8xx miles. should I change the trans fluid? (I did not do it when I purchased the car.
2) Why is this??

1- based on age of fluid, yes. Honda suggests every 30K for tranny
2- good question, never heard of this before

Regarding the rowing through the gears when cold, I assume the thinking here is to warm up the trans fluid a little through the friction of moving through the gears. I can see this being of potential benefit only on really cold days, when even the tiny amount of heat generated could make a differnce in viscosity.

As for the recent posts about xviper banning the OP from responses for life, it really seems a little extreme. The guy didn't know his place, didn't know to bow down to xviper. Now he does. So long as he follows the rules going forward, why should he have to suffer banishment from help?

Because when you're around here long enough you have zero patients for stupidity.

1. "bow down!" he makes me send monthly payments to his offshore account when he answers my questions, ha!
2. For those who don't appreciate ecclectic, bad, dry humor, that was my attempt, ha!

You've taken a tiny tidbit of information posted in a thread that goes back 6 to 7 years ago and brought it back to the surface and blown it out of proportion. If you are that concerned about the "problem", then don't buy an '04 or '05.

The only thing out of proportion here is your overblown and apparently emotional response to my asking the question. I'm concerned only to the extent any potential new purchaser would be. If you guys here, who know from experience, respond with "Oh f@#k, it's bad", then I'll look for a later car. If you go "It's BS, don't sweat it" then I won't.

I do want to know if it's something that will develop over time. You mentioned that it either has it or it doesn't... anyone else agree or disagree?

Any really great threads out there on it?

Thanks.
xviper answered your question directly. It isn't a problem for all, and it will not develop over time.

Since you've decided to resort to name calling, this thread is now done.
