The only thing a Honda of America Engineer would know about is the Accord and Civic and even then, all aspects are controlled by Honda of Japan. An engineer from Ohio will know nothing of the next S2000 or NSX for that matter. They are there to make sure the Robots make the Accord and Civic the way Japan wants. The information you give below is pretty basic common knowledge progression stuff that any car maker would do. In short, the engineer your brother talked to was spouting out info that could happen not what will happen.
My opinion: Honda will either stop production soon or will slightly update the car. The biggest change you can hope for is DVD navigation. But I highly doubt they will change the heart....the F20C. The S2000 can not get any closer to the current NSX. Porsche does the same thing...no way is the Boxter S ever going to be close to the current 911 (Non-Turbo).

The S2000 is entirely developed and designed by Mother Honda in Japan. AHM has nothing to do with the current model or a new model, if there even is one. Also, some folks from this froum went to the Honda Factory in Japan where the S2000 is produced and talked to one of the top engineers and he stated that Honda has no plans to make major changes to the S2000 anytime soon.
I forsee a production run similar to the NSX. They may make small updates every model year, even up the displacement, but an all new model in 04, I don't think so.

Just to set some facts straight:
1. When speaking of NSX resale values, one has only to peruse the various classifieds to appreciate the car's residual value. In order to purchase a 1991 NSX with less than 40,000 miles in good condition, one needs to spend some $36,000. This represents approximately 60% of the car's original sticker. Furthermore, 1991 NSX's with less than 20,000 miles will fetch between $40,000 and $44,000 or approximately 66-70% of original sticker.
2. While other manufacturers may have been more aggressive in model changes, the fact is, the NSX has received significant upgrades over the years. A new engine and transmission, new brakes, a new body style (Targa), a "special edition" model {Zanardi} and new-for-2002 body and suspension changes represent the obvious and major changes, however, there have been a host of mechanical and other refinements over the years.

As long as Honda keeps the excitement for the S2000 (or whatever it's called) and Honda Dealers gouge their customers for such a car - (selling for over sticker)
The resale value of our cars will always be good.
Think about it - most cars depreciate about 50% in five years - This means S2000's will be selling for $16,000? I highly DOUBT IT.
There is always good demand for good used hondas.
If someone can buy a 2 year old Acura RSX for about the same price as a used S2000 - what do you think that person would purchase? Probably the used S2k - unless the insurance is outrageous.
The brillant thing about the S2000 is that i's so reasonably priced to begin with --- there are always buyers out there for a fast fun sporty convertible.

There will always be a demand for our S2000's although resale may drop a reasonable amount. All you have to do to sell your car is let them test drive it! There will always be a young person or not so young person that will only be able to afford a used s2000 and will love it! If they do have a drastic design change with increased performance it will cost 2.5- 5 thousand more.
Use a little discipline and keep your S longer so the depreciation rate will slow.
