I'm just guessing but Honda's not going to come in after the curve. I say most likely 320-hp (Beemer already 315) 6-cyl VTEC with a heavier and slightly larger body?

The new Accord is 240-hp !

I think it would be cool to see a next generation S2000 (S3000?) with an inline 6 cylinder, I just don't see them stuffing one into the current body. What would they have to do to maintain the 50/50 weight balance? And besides, an all new engine like that would deserve an all new chassis, not to mention tranny and rear end, to handle that power.

The safe bet is we'll see a minor update like the addition of i-VTEC or maybe something along the lines of the NSX's engine bump from 3.0 to 3.2 liters back in the day.

Oh and the part about the Accord having 240 HP doesn't seem too relevant. Look at the other Honda models with HP equal to or greater than the S2000: CL & TL Type S (260 HP?), Odyssey, MDX, and Pilot (all 240 HP?).

am I the only one against I-VTEC??? It is similar to the Toyota technology, and if you have ever driven one it doesn't give you that classic "PUNCH" when the VTEC kicks in.

I'll be happy to take that punch spread over a wider rpm range starting at lower revs.

I don't care for the punch. It just makes the low end feel that much slower to get that kick at 6k. Besides, I test drove an RSX Type S and can't say I noticed too much difference.

I ordered a 2004 silver today! No price - no delivery date - maybe Sept '03 or sooner. We'll see?
You know, I am sure everyone here is just completely floored that your information is ALWAYS right. I can't explain in words just how impressed I am. But in regards to the comment I quoted above...are you serious??

Sorry to label but this ignorant behavior from you and your kind is exactly why Honda still gets MSRP for this car. Sure its a nice car, a bit overpriced IMO, but placing an order 1 1/2 years in advance is completely ludicrous. If people would quit paying MSRP for the car then Honda would start charging less. Unfortunately these people are so blinded by their need to have the car NOW, their need to show themselves off in the car because of ALL the looks they get in it, their perpetuation of this IMAGE they have to hold up of themselves to family and friends. Its absolutely pathetic and the MSRP problem will continue as long as you allow it to.

But a lot of people are getting the car for under MSRP!

Back in late March, I was offered a deal for around $300 under MSRP (wrong colors, though), another for $800 under MSRP, and one for right at MSRP.

I ended up declining the $800 offer and going for the one at MSRP because that dealer was the only one in town who let me test drive an S, he gave me more for my trade, and he had my color combo (silver/black) coming in a full month+ earlier.

You are right StrangeDaze.

But I don't feel that 300, 800, or even 1,000 below MSRP is still a good deal. Then again this is just my opinion.

When I go to buy a car I don't expect to pay more than invoice for vehicle. I don't finance the car because I don't shop for one I can't afford to purchase in cash. Even at invoice these dealers are making a killing on us. By justifying that it is an awesome car, which it is, and rationalizing therefore that it is worth MSRP, we are just lining the pockets of Honda Corporate with our hard earned money. To think this car has been out as long as it has and some dealers are still placing a markup on it is mindblowing. The only reason they continue to do this is because of all the hype that we, the consumers, have placed upon the vehicle. For example, this thread we are typing in now. If people would start going to the dealerships without drooling all over themselves the first moment they catch glimpse of the car then maybe the price would go down. Unfortunately I don't see this happening anytime soon because IMAGE is everything to many people and they are willing to pay for it.
