2004 Model Announcement
This thread reminds me of the one back in May, 2001, when some guy said that there would be a glass rear window for the '02. At that time, everybody insulted him like he was a real idiot. Everybody laughed at him, saying that the only glass rear window for the S2000 would be on the hardtop. I believed him and waited for the '02. Now I got a glass window and I don't have a hardtop.
I concur with the others that have said this. The S will go away in a year or two and there will be a reborn Prelude or CRX to take its place.
I don't think a radical redesign off a low-production sportscar is a very financially sound decision. I would guess the profitability on the S is probably the least of any car in the Honda lineup exclusive of the NSX, which they preportedly lose money on every single one produced.

If this is true, it's great news. To keep getting better, the car has to evolve and change. A new design is not necessarily a bad design -- it just depends on the design. I don't think anyone who liked XK-140s complained when Jaguar unveiled the E-Type. Both were classics in their time, and are today.
Can the S2000 be improved? Sure. Will that change in anyway the passion I have for this car? Never!

I don't see how depreciation is a joke. Of course everyone pays for gas, maintenence, insurance, and interest (if you have a loan). Right now S2000 owners are benefitting from very little depreciation. An S2000 in good condition still goes for mid to high 20s. The point is to maintain the least amount of depreciation as possible. No where did I mention getting my money back on my car. Please, lets not insult people's intelligence by overstating the obvious... what kind of a remark is "if you want an investment buy real estate"?

So if honda brings out a better car and I lose a couple thousand on depreciation..oh well. I am realy losing a tiny amount of what i'm actually paying for the car. It really seems like a non-issue to me. Now if you are one to sell a car every year or so...maybe it means more to you, but if you plan on keeping the car for a while...it is going to make no/little difference in the long run.
