I've seen someone do it and it left a huge gap under the headlight. You could fit a finger in that gap. But they also did the 04 front bumper mod, so I don't know if it's the bumper or the headlight's fault.

The shape of the headlight assembly from the outside view is the same. Therefore, the contour of the pre-04 bumper cover and 04 bumper cover around the headlight assembly (just against the light lense) is also the same shape from the pre-04 and 04. Someone on this board has done the conversion, and I think there were a couple of things that needed to be done to affix the assembly, or maybe it was to make the electrical connections, but there shouldn't have to be any exterior modifications to make the lights look like they have a proper fit. From an asthetic point of view, the only difference are the components inside, there are no shape differences.
