Who gives a SH!# what the tires *look* like???

My AVS Intermediates don't look like they are that agressive, but they stick darned near as well as S-02's.

What is meant by an "aggressive" tread pattern? And how does that have anything to do with the tire's performance?

Once my Kumho Victoracers get properly broken in they don't have any tread pattern at all - does that mean they suddenly don't perform very well?

I agree - the tread pattern is just one of a great many variables. And most of the hi-perf cars today have treads that look like the RE050- go to the Ultra High Performance section of The Tire Rack and I think you w ill find it there - as I said, the E55 AMG is not exactly a wimpmobile, and has turned some awesome times at The Ring.

I think you guys are not looking at the whole picture. It looks like they could have put a lot wider of a tire under that rim in the picture. And they certainly could have used a lower profile tire as their model. If they had done those two things you would all be saying, "look at those crazy aggressive tires!!!!" I don't think the tread pattern is what is causing you to perceive these as inferior tires.
