2007, 2008 base, and 2008 CR, comparison.
The October 07 issue of Sports Car magazine has a nice comparison and test of the latest changes. Check it out.
EDIT: After posting this I realized that different people will see the results of the tests in different ways, and I realized that expressing some of the possible interpretations might set the stage for another round of debates about which MY car is "best." I'm not sure we can discuss changes here at all without upsetting people, so I'm asking the moderators to monoter the thread closely so it can be locked quickly if things start to get unfriendly.
Please try to stick to positive comments.

i just picked up my issue from my moms house today...i was glad to read that the 2007 did better then the 2008 base model on the track
The base MY08 car is apparently totally free of the oversteer that has plagued so many S2000 owners. Yea, some of us like the oversteer, but the number of spin reports we see here on S2kI involving MY08 cars is probably going to hit record lows. The car is going to be more forgiving, and no doubt more conficance inspiring for many drivers. Now people have a choice, and can have more forgiving handling in the base model, or go for the CR. People with older cars also now have a wider variety of parts to pick and choose from at the Honda parts counter, so I can't see any downsides at all. It would be sad if the CR wasn't the most track capable stock S2000 ever, now wouldn't it? Does that change my MY00 car or your MY07 car in any way what so ever?
It seems to me that if the base MY08 reduces the number of spins experienced by new owners, and is still fun to drive, then the handling tweaks are an improvement, even if they have increased lap times a little on the track.
Let's try to keep the comments positive.

I'm really anxious to read the article now, thanks for the heads up... Sounds like Honda is continuing to soften and tame the car. Not the direction I would like to see the S move, but it'll be safer and appeal to a wider audience I suppose. *sigh*
Edit: I tried real hard to be positive; that was the nicest thing I could come up with

I'm actually looking forward to the new 08's. I've been researching the MY00-07 years and I honestly like the 08's over the rest of the years other then the MY02-03 years, although I have yet to test drive the 08's.
I'm gonna actually pick up this magazine so I can read the article,
but from what I read and seen. I think I might have to pick up an 08 myself.
I like the fact that the new 08's will get the new OEM 5-spoke wheel. And the new gauge cluster looks awesome compared to the MY04-07 plus is has the AP2 chassis design which I like over the MY00-03.
Plus they have a stiffer suspensions over the MY07, which is a plus
--+7%/+9% (F/R) for the springs and +10%/+5% (F/R) for the dampers
The 08's also have added a Tire Monitor Pressuring System, which adds weight to the car. The only thing that I despise in the new MY08's is that the seats are higher above the roll bars. I'm looking forward to picking up one as soon as they hit the showroom floor.
