Default 30k Service for $360.00

Wow...that's pricy...

I had the 15k sercice done and it cost me $230.00. According to the Honda recomedations, the only things they add to the 30k service is...

1. inspect drive belts for cracks and damage.
2. replace trans fluid
3. replace micron air filter

So I am paying another $130.00 to get these 3 things done...

Do you think that is too much...

How much did you pay???

you could do all those things at home for no more than $50.
better to maintain your car by yourself then to take it to the dealers and have to go through the hassle.

If you document that you do it and you do it, there shouldnt be a roblem with the warranty, however, it does seem as though you are being overcharged, I paid < $100 for my 15k service.

Since I don't trust Honda dealerships and I don't want to hassle with them if they damage my car, I decided to buy a Helm service manual and do the work myself. It was $68. I gives step by step illustrated instructions and I'll save more than the cost of the manual if the only thing I do is adjust the valves one time. If you are interested, the Helm web site is:

dealers always overcharge for doing practically nothing. inspecting belts at 30k? i have never had a japanese car that had a bad belt before 50k( that's 7 cars) i agree they should be checked regularly, but not by under-trained and over-paid dealer techs. $ 300 is ridiculous considering 90% of the work performed really should have been performed by the owner on a regular basis. next time, tell them to change oil and filter and leave everything else alone.
