Exactly why does this car have to settle for only 4 cylinders? Add another two and you should get almost 360HP, right?

It would minimally increase the length of the engine, but you could compensage by increasing the car length. Say 6 inches? Beef up the tranny, clutch and exhaust... With the low weight, it would keep up with a Ferrari, and make a Porsche look like a childrens toy.

I would think it would minimally add to the weight and length, but provide an almost 50% improvement in power.

Why not?

Add another two and make it a 480HP/306ft-lbs 3.8L V8. Wait...that sounds like an NSX doesn't it?

Well, it wouldn't be an S2000 anymore. Also, a car with 360 HP and a V-6 would cost a lot lot more...and be a lot heavier as well.

Not if it were made of ceramic!

Where's those ceramic engines we were promised out of Honda in the late 90's??? The ones that didn't use any oil, and had 33% more power due to less friction than metal????

I bet some people's favorite sitcom on this forum must have been "Home Improvement", whose slogan was "More Power!"

Its unlikely you would get a V6 motor to rev to 9000rpm. The more mass you have moving around the harder it is to rev it up.

Beacuse it's THIS car. More cylinders (and especially slower revving ones) would make it ANOTHER car. That's probably why.
