Why would you contradict the representative of the company who put the "R" designation there?

R=Revised.

i was doing some figuring, and it seems like 4.44 would be a better option for the AP2 tranny ratios.

If you are using the car for 1/4 mile duty, changing the stock FD gearing to almost anything else may be a detriment. You will accelerate more quickly and get up to speed better, but this will have the added disadvantage of requiring an extra shift in order to finish the distance. That extra shift into 5th is one of the slowest shifts there is due to the distance that gear is positioned from the basic "H".

i drive an Ap1, but just saying the Ap2 is geared shorter 1-4, so like you say 4.57 might be overkill.

Hmm, you might want to do the math on this one. Below is the effective rear gear ratio for an AP2.

Gears 1-4 = 4% lower for performance
Gear 5 = 1% lower
Gear 6 = 2% higher

4.10 Gears
1-4 = 4.223
5 = 4.141
6 = 4.018

4.33 Gears
1-4 = 4.5032
5 = 4.3733
6 = 4.2434

4.44 Gears
1-4 = 4.6176
5 = 4.4844
6 = 4.3512

4.57 Gears
1-4 = 4.7528
5 = 4.6157
6 = 4.4786

4.77 Gears
1-4 = 4.9608
5 = 4.8177
6 = 4.6746

So based on the math, and your statment, then 4.77 is too much for an AP1 too?

I know for a fact, there is a number of AP2 owners out there with 4.57 gears and they are very happy with them. I also had 4.57 gears and an AP2 transmission. So effectively I drove with the same ratio, only I also had a higher redline.

So what do you think the best ratio for an AP2 would be?

Are you referring to me? Because I didn't say this at all. I never said it was "overkill". I simply explained the facts of a specific situation. Depending upon who is driving, will determine if it is "overkill".
