Accident with S2000 after 1 day

it was locally wet and glissery..
but not covered..by insurance..

pfff,
the engine looks good, and sounds good..

Sorry to hear of your accident, but glad that you are okay.

Get the car to a dealer and ask them for an estimate, I'd take that figure as worse case scenario.

Once you know what needs replacing start calling around all the breakers yards and check the for sale boards to see if anyone is trying to sell bits that you need.

umm bud, when the snow melts at a fast rate, there will be puddles around for at least 4-5 days. At night, when the temperature drops to below freezing, the puddles left over from the previous melt turn into ice. If there was a melt, I am almost certain you did in fact hit a patch of black ice.

Next time before you attempt any spirited driving, make sure your tires are at operating temperature by slowly weaving your car from side to side in a controlled state. Do this untill you feel the tires become grippier as you weave.

And never try to drive hard when it is low temp, 30-40.

I dont really see how it is possible to torque drift when you are upshifting, if this was a downshift, it would make more sense.

Sorry about your mishap. Your self doubt is normal and you'll get over it in time even if you have to take a big $$ hit. Learn from it.

I crashed 8 days ago so heck, learn from me. I zoomed around on familiar backroads for months always "in total control". The problem is you get used to speed, and then the trap springs in some scenario that your analytical, "always thinking ahead of the car" brain thinks is well within your envelope. I wasn't even going fast when I lost control but it was too fast for the conditions.

I fell into the same mindset a few years ago when I owned a Ducati 900 SS/SP, except I recognized it and cut it short by selling the bike. I knew I was doing it again with my S2000 but I didn't curb it soon enough. Fortunately no one but me was hurt, and being of advanced career I can buffer the $$ loss. And between the Ducati and the S2000 I've finally accepted the lesson.

Also buy yourself one of these. For the money they're a really nice piece.
