Hi guys, just wanted to let y'all know that I experienced what everyone else is saying. S2000's burn-oil like crazy. I checked it this morning and WHOAAAA!!! My oil was at the 1/3 indicator. Anyways, I stopped by AutoZone on my way to work and put oil in my baby's heart and it was a bitch. I recommend to everyone, specially to newbies like me, to bring a quart of dino oil and a funnel. No funnel means oil spilling everywhere unless some have techniques that I am not aware of.

Just wanted to let y'all know.

Later,

I have had the same difficulty adding oil on a trip. Then while driving to South Carolina, lo and behold, found an actual paper funnel dispenser beside the paper towel dispenser at one of the majors - I think it was Speedway. I instantly reacted and pulled several out of the dispenser and tucked them away in the trunk. See if you can find this item at one of the parts outlets. I will, once I use up the ones that I have.

Man, I did not know this thread is still alive.

Anyways, I finally got a funnel from Pepboys along with a neck extension for the oil container. I plug the extension on my reserve oil and drive around with it. It has a lock so that it doesn't spill the oil over the engine bay while you are in the process of pouring oil. Just place the extention on hole, do half a turn. viola! oil comes out. Once done, reverse turn it and it is off.

Very convenient and highly recommended.

Actually, if you cut the top off of a 2 liter bottle of soda, it fits perfectly as a funnel.

I've now owned 3 Honda DOHV VTEC's that have been known for oil consumtion. My del Sol VTEC did not burn oil at all (broke it in hard). My 2000 S2000 burned no oil (broke it in hard)... But my 2001 S2000 is burning oil. At 2000 miles I put a full quart in (broke it in softer).

A trick I learned while stranded on the road with my old car.

Hold your thumb over the opening of the quart of oil, put it over the opening to the engine and slowly slide your thumb out of the way. It will obviously get a little bit of oil on your thumb but that is why god invented pant legs.

If you use Syntec it might be a little difficult seeing as how the orifice is twice the size as regular... but you know.
