ages?
That's totally BOGUS! (to the people who's telling you to wait until older to drive our S), but that's just my opinion.
It's like saying don't get a superbike/crotch rocket b/c of it's injury risk factor. There were more injuries from rollerblades, Razor scooters, than there were car accident victims, when those first came out. All BOGUS. W/ proper training and protection, it's all good. That should be my motto. "With proper training and protection, it's all good".
There's only been couple of really bad accidents w/ S w/ younger drivers, but there are also couple of really bad accidents w/ S from older drivers as well ( and not just from soccer Moms backing into our S).
But if you got the money, definitely go for it, if it's what you really want. It's not like they (16 yr olds) are getting a Z06 w/ gobs of power, etc.
Yeah, some responsible cars are much easier to drive and quiet, but if you don't mind revvvving up the engine and keeping it in the "RPM Zone" or VTEC and having the time of your life, nothing's better.
Take it easy for awhile when you are learning how to drive it, just don't drive up our insurance, and play in an open area first to avoid "accidents".
If I were 16 again and had won a lotto or my Daddy bought me a car of my choice, I would've chosen 911, Ferrari, NSX or something exotic.
Come on, who here would honestly say that when you were 16, you wanted something practical or safe or etc. I'm guessing very few people. Others wanted either affordable sports car, like Mustang, Camaro, etc. or P/U for some good sound system. Yes, if we had a 16 yr boy or a girl, we would buy them or guide them to buy something safer, etc. but that's a different story.
My older brother had a Mustang as his first car, handed that down to me, bought a Grand Am SE/or GT, then traded it in for Civic Si and CBR600R (or something like that), then traded those in for the last generation RX-7, then modded the hell out of that, then traded it in for CLK430 after getting married, having a kid, etc. He constantly talks about getting a Ferrari or something exotic. He's 29.5 yrs old. He enjoys my S whenever I let him drive it, but he wants something more powerful.
I grew up w/ a hand-me-down Mustang (auto), handed that down to my little bro, then bought a Toyota Corolla (auto), then bought a Nissan P/U ext cab(auto), which I currently have, then I got my S last May. I wanted the S ever since it first came out, but couldn't justify the cost/need, then it became somewhat more affordable w/ my "raise".
I'm 28 yrs old now, and I bought my S when I was little over 27. I drive my S almost daily and enjoy driving it always. I do get a little crazy w/ it every-now-and-then, VTEC'ing, taking corners little too fast, etc., but I consider myself a safe driver, just like I was when I was 16.
Have fun while you can, just don't be stupid and you won't end up in the hospital and I don't have to take care of you.

20, 21 in sept. The only reason I would say to wait is the fact that you don't have much experience with rwd cars... then again, how else are you going to get the experience? I have only owned rwd or awd cars, and have owned cars much faster than the S, but it will bite you faster than anything I have driven. You should remember that not only is it rwd, but it has NO traction control... Comparing it to the likes of a wrx is not wise, as they are in two totally different worlds... If you have ANY doubts about your driving ability (honestly), then I would go with the WRX or RSX.... I can't speak for all the 'young bucks,' but I have also attended several advanced driving/racing schools... It would be a wise investment no matter what car you decide on. Good luck with your decision!
hey
i've driven my celi for more than a year which is of course manual
rwd is pretty sensitive right?
that's the most important one
i dont wanna wreck my next vehicle again and rwd is hardest drivetrain to deal with
that's only reason i cant really be certain on purchasing dat monster
BTW, SANG05 i've seen u in front of han ah rum the other day
im the one with silver celi
u were there with jin's prelude and some other guy's del sol
were u the one with white S?
thanks for advice guys
i really appreciate ur opinions

I'm willing to bet most of these old farts as its been put, owned some kind of 32 Ford roadster back when they were 16 years of age, so I don't see why they are discouraging you from getting a S2k at the age of 19. If anyone tells you

"I really do disagree with you saying, "If anyone tells you not to get something, that's more of a reason why you should get it." That sounds more like spite to me then good sense."
No it's more headstrong than anything. When I first decided to get my S2000, many people told me not to and did I listen, NO! This was the best decision I ever made and I don't regret it one bit. I will rephrase the 32 Ford and say 67 Mustang, sounds more accurate. For what its worth, this has been a fun posting and I have much respect for the older generation, considering I'm almost there myself.
