lol. he was talking to me about a previous time where i had met him. Hanareum is a korean grocery store, which is located on rt. 40 down baltimore national pike near catonsville. I'm sure there is one near gallows rd. as well, but this is not the one we're talking about.

"I think it would suck to wait until your 40-60+ years old to get a real nice car. I'm willing to bet most of these old farts as its been put, owned some kind of 32 Ford roadster back when they were 16 years of age, so I don't see why they are discouraging you from getting a S2k at the age of 19."

OK, here I go: I'm 55 and resent being characterized as an "old fart," and I can tell you from experience that waiting until "[you're] 40-60+ to get a real nice nice car" doesn't "suck." You might be way too young to understand this, but getting something nice when you truly have worked for it for many years is truly a wonderful experience.

I also can tell you that, in retropect, if I had the chance to get an S2000-like car when I was 19, I would have gotten it and I would have killed myself or someone else. You have no concept at 19 that you are destructible-mortal. Way way too much testosterone is flowing in your veins and you have little life experience to draw on. Unless you are a very, very special young person, you simply will have difficulty handling such a thoroughbred automobile. It beckens you to drive it to its full potential all the time. I can tell you that because it STILL beckons me every time I drive it, which is daily. And, I also can tell you that every so often, I have to give into it. It's a great rush.

And, as noted above, it is a very unforgiving car, especially if you are NOT well experienced driving RWD automobiles. I grew up driving RWD stick shift cars, and I have been challenged by the S2000. Hell, my car fricking last Fall hydroplaned on a sweeping curve on a country rodad and kissed a guard rail to the tune of $8,000 damage! I can afford it, you might not.

LT'S2K said "It's like saying don't get a superbike/crotch rocket b/c of it's injury risk factor. There were more injuries from rollerblades, Razor scooters, than there were car accident victims, when those first came out. All BOGUS. W/ proper training and protection, it's all good. That should be my motto. 'With proper training and protection, it's all good.'"

It's a really good motto, all right. The problem is proper training and protection is not enough. I also ride a motorcycle. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've seen some stupid *ss 16-25 year old blow by me at an incredible rate of speed in an incredible unsafe situation. In Maryland, more likely than not, they have taken a Motorcycle Safety Course to get a license in the first place. So they are very well trained. Also, many wear good protection, but that protection is useless at 80 mpt+. Crotchrocket in my view are the motorcycle equivalent of the S2000. Don't get one unless you can control yourself. Also, you can't compare razor scooters and rollerblade injuries to bike-car accidents. Bike-car accidents often injure not only drivers/passengers, but also other persons and those injuries are often serious/deadly. Scooter/rollerblade accidents usually are low speed and injure only the riders.

With all due respect to you "young farts" out there, I'd say, don't get it unless you really know yourself well and can handle the car and the emotions that it tends to draw out. You only have one life and you want to enjoy a long fruitful one.

Gee, what ever happened to Buffy. She was incredible ethereal. She also was a cokehead. I think I saw her perform in person once, but, given that it was in the '60's, I can't be sure about that I think I remember the Doors and Morrison, though . . . .

I'm not sure I'd call Buffy ethereal. I like a few of her songs, but not everything. Its interesting that we used to call it "Folk", it sounds more like "Country and Western" to me now. I guess the music has changed over the last 3 decades. I do remember that she had the longest, straightest most beautiful black hair I've ever seen.

If you remember Jim Morrison and the Doors, I'm sure you remember Janis. I still listen to her. Pearl is one of my all time favorites. Hard to believe shes dead 30 years.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, or are we finished?

Hey man real sorry. Guess I'm an old fart type, 55 yrs. old. All cars back then were rwd. My 66 stang GT, 67 GTO w/trips etc. If you got the coin I say go for the s. I absolutly love mine. Good weather car only. 97 Audi Avant Quattro for beater. Just be cool, it really does take some practice to get really proficient in an s2000. Be careful and have a blast.
