Default Air Filter Box and Resonator Box

I tried hard acceleration without the lid on the air filter box and the engine sound was better. It really sounded cool. What is the resonator box for on the right side of the air box. Someone suggested taping cardboard over the opening to the resonator box for better sound. Will taping hurt anything?

Forget the cardboard... just use a hacksaw to cut if off.

You will NOT believe the amount of heads you'll turn!!

The resonator is there to quiet the induction noise. I've never seen the inside of it, but I'm assuming there's a bunch of fins in there for the air to bounce around in and slow it down, thereby producing less noise. I taped off the resonator opening a few weeks ago and thought I noticed more growl to the engine note at first, but now I think it's all in my head because I completely forgot about it. If it changes any sound, it's probably only in VTEC and above.

Blocking the resonator won't hurt anything. Go ahead and try it to see if you notice a difference.

lol you won't wake up any neighbors. Its not a significant increase in volume. Just a slight growl.

^^Unless you run the Fujita CAI...I've set off car alarms with my Fujita F5. Only intake that had a minor case of drone around 4k rpms(very minor but the dash would vibrate around that rpm until 4200 rpm or so).
